Ticketebo vs zeffy:
Both platforms handle the basics (online sales, barcode tickets, and entry scanning), but the costs differ:
- Online sales
- barcode tickets
differences:
- ticketebo add a 4.95% fee onto the ticket price (min of 75p per order)
- zeffy ask for a voluntary dotation at checkout - no charge if patreon declines
- manual/cash sales: ticketebo would charge us 75p to create a ticket. zeffy is no cost.
so ticket income
- £8 per ticket
- 220 per showing, 3 showings
- £5,280 if all tickets sold
both services 100% of that money would come back to us, however, tickets prices will be more expensive sold via ticketebo £8.40pp on orders of two tickets or more, or £8.75 for a single ticket.
for a charity, ticketebo will also refund 10% of their takin, which would be somwhere around £26.40 extra for us. Also have to factor in any manual/cash sales we do will cost us 75p each, so this would have to come off this total.
in summary,
- both options offer the same service
- both options would see roughly the same income on tiket sales for the charity
- actual ticket prices would be more expensive via ticketebo (+40p to 75p)
whichever we go for for ticket sales, i would encourage you all to have aloo at the zeffy website. they are a non-profit setup to help with fund raising for other non-profits, there some good ideas/services that they offer that could raise money for the charity
- raffle tickets sales (see their 50/50 raffle too)
- one off dotation's (and subscription available)
- donation/prize auctions
ai impovement and my ammendments
Online Ticket Sales: Ticketebo vs. Zeffy
Both platforms handle the basics (online sales, barcode tickets, and entry scanning), but the costs differ:
Ticketebo (Traditional Model)
- Cost: They add a 4.95% fee to the total order.
- The Minimum: There is a 75p minimum fee per order.
- For a single £8 ticket, the fee is 75p (since 4.95% is only 40p).
- For an order of 10 tickets (£80), the fee is £3.96 (4.95%).
- Charity Perk: They refund 10% of their booking fees back to us after the event (roughly £25–£30 if we sell out).
- Cash Sales: They charge us 75p to manually generate a barcode ticket for cash buyers.
Zeffy (Non-Profit Model)
- Cost: £0. It is completely free for the PTA.
- How it works: At checkout, it asks parents for a voluntary "contribution" to keep the platform running. This is optional, parents can skip it.
- Cash Sales: We can manually add cash buyers and send them a barcode ticket at no extra cost.
Our bottom line (£8 tickets / 660 total capacity / 3 showings):
- Income: Both return the full £5,280 to the PTA.
- Parent Cost: Tickets are cheaper for parents on Zeffy (£8 flat vs. £8.40/£8.75).
- Cash sales: Zeffy is better for cash sales because Ticketebo’s 75p fee for manual tickets would have to come out of our profits.
In summary:
- Service: Both provide the same core features (online sales and barcode scanning).
- PTA Income: We get the same payout from both. Ticketebo does offer the 10% return on their fees, but this would probably be swallowed by the 75p fee per ticket for any cash sales we make.
- Parent Cost: Zeffy is cheaper for parents (£8 flat). Ticketebo adds fees (40p or 75p per person).
- The Trade-off: To keep prices at £8 on Ticketebo, we would have to absorb the fees ourselves, costing the PTA approximately £264.

Thanks! Whichever way we do go for tickets, I’d encourage everyone to check out Zeffy.com. They are a non-profit built to help charities, and they offer a few services that could be potential revenue for the charity:
- Raffles: Easily sell raffle tickets online (lookup their "50/50" draws).
- Donations: Set up one-off or monthly subscription donations.
- Auctions: Run online auctions for donated prizes.
- No Fees: Because they don't take a cut, we keep 100% of every donation and prize bid.
Something I thought would be looking at
Thanks! Whichever way we do go for tickets, I’d encourage everyone to have a look at Zeffy.com. They offer a number of free services for raffles, 50/50 prize draws, prize auctions, or even just one-off donations for the charity. Quite a few good ideas for fund raising I thought
