I found the fish, it was at the bottom of the tank, dead. It looked like it had been dead for longer than 24 hours. Last week I noticed one of the yellow fish was bloated, I think it was that fish. I usually check how many fish are there each time I feed them, so he must have been alive Tuesday evening. RIP with no name, your buddies will miss you.

Wasted the start of the day. I took 45mg [[lisdexamfetamine]] (x 1.5 current dose) of my [[ADHD Treatment|adhd medication]], hoping to get a boost in productivity and get my assignment done. But I wasted the morning. By the time I started after lunch, I just got overly focused on the details. I need to get faster at writing. It's only in the evening, after tea, do I feel that I've made progress. Was the medication too much, or did I just need a rest?

I've been struggling to write a 600 word essay for my [[Access to HE Diploma (Medicine)|access course]] assignment. I've been writing loads, but I'm just repeating myself over and over as I start and then re-start, and then re-start... It's been frustrating. I don't know if it's an [[me ADHD Symptoms|adhd]] thing, or I just don't fully understand the subject. But I sat down yesterday and, with AI, I really nailed down the structure, and using the [[2025-12-04 1555 Essay Outline|PEER]] system with academic writing. And in no time at all I got a rough draft done, just like that! It was easy once I'd understood the subject and essay structure better. I've spent a redonkulous amount of time up until yesterday effectively going no where. This is a big achievement!

[[Jessica Louise Hodgetts|Jess]] and [[Isabella Jaime Hodgetts|Bella]] stayed at [[9 Shugborough Close|nana and grandad's]] last night while me and [[Erin Mary Hodgetts|Erin]] went to [[Zoe||Zoe's]] (Erin's work friend) surprise 50th Birthday party at the [[Michelin Sports Centre]]. It was a good night. I'm finding that I getting better in social situations, I just have less anxiety, more confidence. I want to talk to people more, it's enjoyable. I don't know if this is the [[ADHD Treatment]] at work, or whether [[Volunteering|volunteering]] has pushed me out of my comfort zone--if I can walk onto a ward and introduce myself to a complete stranger, put myself out there and initiate it, when I don't have any other agender other than to have a conversation (which is my nemesis), then doing it at a party, with familiar people, is waaay easier.

Although, I thought [[Sandy|Sandy]] wasn't his normal self with me last night., he's always been really warm towards me, but I sensed something a bit off. Maybe nothing, I'm probably just over thinking it. Erin's has mentioned in the past that he can be a bit possessive with his wife, so I'm mindful of that. My mindfulness of that may have changed my interactions with him, and he's thinking something's off but doesn't know what it is too.

Took 54mg concerta instead of 20mg elvanse, just to see the difference before [[2025.12.19.We|Wednesday's]] medication review. I noticed the kick-in in the morning, more than elvanse, but I found myself not working on my assignment until around 6 hours in. This co-incised with the release profile peak. I noticed this and around 16:00 I crushed 15mg of Medikinet XL and took that. This seems to work quite well, and I was able to focus and actually write, without constant restarting and rewriting, over and over.

I think the adhd meds make a big improvement when I feel ill. I felt like I had a cold yesterday, off side, runny nose, etc., then around tea time I went really down hill, flu like symptoms. The timing would coincide with my adhd meds wearing off. Again this morning, flu like symptoms still, an hour after I had ibuprofen and adhd meds I noticed a big improvement, ibuprofen helps, but this was way more than that alone. It was noticeable how quite it was too. Running with this, I doubled down on my hypothesis and had another half dose, so had [[ADHD Treatment|adhd meds]] 45g Elvanse. I went from wanting to lie down for the rest of the day to mowing the lawn! Huge improvement.

To stay on track with my [[Access to HE Diploma (Medicine)]] I needed to get the SAQ;s done today so that I could be on track to get the next unit before the 22nd (when the [[Distance Learning Centre]] closes for Christmas). I've lost sooo much time on the first two units, they should have taken 22 days to complete if I want to make the summer moderation, I took 75 days! Out of a total of 234 days available, I used a third (32%) of that time on 9% of the total marks.

an ai summary of the video:
In this video, [[Ruri Ohama]] shares a three-part productivity framework specifically designed for people with ADHD or those who struggle with "activation energy" (the difficulty of getting started).
### **1. Solving Activation Energy**
Getting started is often harder than the work itself. Ohama uses three techniques to "activate" her brain:
- **Morning Light Therapy:** Sitting in front of a 10,000 lux light lamp for 20–30 minutes within 30 minutes of waking up to reset the circadian rhythm and clear brain fog [[02:34](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=154)].
- **Kitchen Table Setup:** Placing her laptop on the kitchen table the night before to "trick" the brain into starting work during breakfast, avoiding the mental resistance associated with a dedicated work desk [[04:14](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=254)].
- **Planning the Night Before:** Visualizing the next day’s structure to prevent decision fatigue and aimless procrastination in the morning [[05:14](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=314)].
### **2. Signal vs. Noise**
High performance comes from identifying what truly matters rather than just being "busy."
- **The Brain Dump:** Emptying all thoughts and tasks into a system every morning to clear mental clutter and silence the "loud" ADHD mind [[11:32](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=692)].
- **Daily Highlight:** Identifying just one "signal" (the most important task) that would make the day a success. This helps protect focus and prevents the guilt associated with toxic productivity [[14:00](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=840)].
- **Protecting the Signal:** Treating everything else as "noise" that can be ignored or delayed until the primary goal is achieved [[16:31](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=991)].
### **3. The Sprinting Method**
To maintain momentum and avoid the "engine cooling down" effect of frequent breaks, Ohama uses sprints:
- **Categorize by Energy:** Tasks are grouped into four categories: **Urgent**, **Deadlines**, **Admin**, and **Creative** [[22:46](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=1366)].
- **Treat Sprints as One Task:** Instead of switching between small tasks, she works through an entire category in one continuous "flow state" to minimize context switching [[23:26](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=1406)].
- **Follow Energy, Not the Clock:** Rather than "eating the frog" (doing the hardest thing first), she works on what matches her current energy level to avoid burnout and resistance [[19:13](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=1153)].
### **Key Takeaways**
- **Stop forcing traditional breaks:** For some neurodivergent brains, breaks act as "task switchers" that kill momentum [[18:21](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=1101)].
- **Focus on signal, not quantity:** You cannot compete on volume alone; success comes from protecting the 3–5 things (the signal) that move the needle [[09:10](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=550)].
- **Visual systems over lists:** Using visual boards (like Kanban) is often less overwhelming for ADHD minds than static, long to-do lists [[25:01](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5LSbjqb958&t=1501)].

[[Volunteering at Harplands Ward 1]]
- I missed the previous week ([[Erin Mary Hodgetts|Erin]] and girls were in [[Hornsea]] and I was lost in hyperfocus at home, [[me ADHD Medication|ADHD meds]] were too high)
- I actually felt useful this week
- I watched over [[Nathan 2025-11-28]] while he went out for a smoke
- I played chess with [[Mark 2025-11-28]], he's very good, and thought I was too (even though I lost all three games), but he enjoyed it, wants to play again next week
- [[Luke 2025-11-07]] had finally been discharged from the ward since y last visit
